ORAS #1

SD 3036

1914 - 1953
SE 28 - 39 - 6 W5

Pioneers in this area referred to the land as the Green Valley.  Their children were schooled in the local hall until it burned in 1922.  The settlers then formed a School Board to choose a site and build a real school. There was no developed road allowance providing access so they decided the best location was on the wagon trail paralleling the railroad to Rocky.  The last class finished in 1953.  Students were then bussed to Rocky.  The building followed them where it continued to be used as a classroom for some time.
