LESLIEVILLE

SD 4172

1925-1956
SE 26 - 39 - 5 W5

Leslieville was situated between the Prairie Rose School District (1907) to the south and the Campbell School District (1910) to the north. Students in the village were directed in both directions.  Then the decision was made to form a new School District with a new school being built where the Elks Hall is now.  Students were housed in an old log church and another old building while waiting to move into their own school in their own community.

When that site was no longer large enough to accommodate the students coming from the surrounding areas a new larger site was selected and the school was moved east across the highway.  When it was replaced there by a “bigger and better” structure the Leslieville Elks Lodge purchased it and moved it back where it had originated.  It served as the Elks Lodge for many years.
