The need for a school was recognized in this community in 1935.  A slab lumber building served the purpose until a log school house was completed in about 1943.  Twenty years later it was replaced with one moved in from the Meadowvale District. The log building stood vacant for several years until it was set on fire.  The Faraway school closed in 1971, and all the students were bussed to Rimbey. The building was moved north of the Oras road just across Highway #53 to the community grounds.  It was destroyed in approximately 2019.
